Vlog 3: Excited for the Mars Mission, Return to School

I hope everyone had a great week! I know I did, even though it was both rainy and hot here in NYC. I spent the time inside to work on some things but one of the big things I did was three NASA-Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) webinars on the Mars Perseverance mission. I am very excited about the launch on Thursday morning. The engineering behind this rover is incredible.

The experiment on the Perseverance rover that I am looking forward to following the most is the MOXIE experiment. Being able to use the water and resources on Mars to create breathable air or fuel is a big game-changer for our ability to explore our solar system and the first step to be becoming a two-planet species.

This week is a busy one for space lovers like me. Not only do we have the launch of Perseverance but also the return of the Demo-2 team from the International Space Station. The safe return of Bob and Doug from their mission in the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule is an important part of human-rating the spacecraft and our return to regular manned-missions launched from the United States. I love the futuristic look of the SpaceX capsule and the spacesuits. They make astronauts look cool again when you compare them to the bulky suits created for the Boeing Starliner capsule and the suits for Artemis.

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s blog and I look forward to bringing more vlogs in the future. I am hoping to wake up early enough to watch the launch and maybe record my reaction to it to include in next week’s post.
