Robert M. Pimpsner was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and is a graduate of Port Richmond High School and Saint John’s University. During his high school years, he joined the U.S. Army Junior ROTC program where he rose to the rank of battalion commanding officer. He also was a member of the school’s Virtual Enterprise program where he served as the Vice President of Advertising in his senior year.
After graduating from High School in 2006, he enrolled in Saint John’s University where he majored in Sport Management and minored in Business Administration. At Saint John’s he was a founding father of the Rho-Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After his college graduation in 2011 he became the alumnus advisor for his home chapter. He served as the Rho-Sigma alumnus advisor from 2011-2015, which is when he became the advisor for the new College of Staten Island Colony of Kappa Sigma.
In 2003 Robert founded Baby-Bombers.com, a website that provided independent coverage of the Staten Island Yankees. From 2003-2009 he operated the site, serving as the primary beat writer, photographer and designer.
He closed Baby-Bombers.com in 2009 and moved his coverage of the New York Yankees to Gotham Sports Media where he served as their primary Yankees Minor League Beat Writer for GothamBaseball.com and BaseballDigest.com from 2009-2011. During that team he also founded the BaseballDigest.com Business Beat column.
Just prior to the 2012 season he began working on what eventually became Pinstriped Prospects. With a soft launch during the 2012 Staten Island Yankees season he was able to perfect what was needed for the site’s official launch in 2014.
Pinstriped Prospects officially launched in 2014 and quickly became one of the top sites for information on the New York Yankees minor league system. Building off of the success he launched its sister site Amazin’ Prospects in 2016.
While in college Robert began working on building his own company, RMP Sports Media, Inc. The company officially launched in 2016 and is the operating entity of Pinstriped Prospects and Amazin’ Prospects.
Over the years Robert has had his worked featured in many places including: Staten Island Advance, The New Yorker Magazine, ESPN Sports Center, CBS Evening News, MiLB.com and more. He has over 14 years’ experience covering minor league baseball as a writer and over 9 years’ experience as a sports photographer. In addition, he has won several awards as part of the Digital Strategy team for the International Council of Shopping Centers.
